IIT has supported the National Guard homeland security program and staff since its inception in October 1999. IIT provides support for National Guard WMD Consequence Management, Homeland Security, Homeland Defense, and Civil Support missions, and on plans and policy matters related to transformation of the National Guard and the National Guard Bureau to meet the security requirements of the 21st century. IIT supports the development, management, and delivery of homeland security strategies, policies and plans, training, doctrine, logistics, web applications, automation systems requirements specification, continuity of operations, current operations staffing, and representational services in various DoD, interagency and National Guard forums. IIT has been integral in the development and fielding of 55 WMD Civil Support Teams, CBRNE Enhanced Response Force Packages, Joint Forces Headquarters-State, the National Guard Bureau Joint Staff, and other key assets for Homeland Security. IIT personnel represent NGB in Joint Command and interagency exercises, in WMD/Civil Support and broader Homeland Security roles, during both planning and execution.
